Amazing Things Happen When You Show Up:Category: It's All About Showing Up Stories Published: Thursday, November 18, 2010 "I got to reconnect with a friend that I knew in Roseville CA 25 years ago. Her name is Gillian Larson, and she Showed up because I was speaking at DSWA. Recently I had the opportunity to speak for the Temecula, CA., DSWA (Direct Sales Women's Assoc) and prior to speaking I posted on Facebook that I would be there. At the meeting in walks someone I had not seen for over 25 years, she saw on Facebook that I was going to speak and SHOWED UP. What a wonderful and delightful surprise. Her name is Gillian Larson and her daughter and my daughter were High School Classmates at Roseville High in Roseville, CA . The girls have continued their friendships to this day, and whenever my daughter and her husband go back East they always stop to see them. Gillian later moved to Temecula from Roseville, I knew she lived there but we never connected until today, and it was so wonderful to see her. She reminded me of the projects we worked on together in Roseville including putting together the first PROM where the kids remained locked in all night, and that is still happening at that High School today, and I remembered it was a great success and the kids had a great time and no one was out driving on Prom night. Also I knew that Gillian had been on "Survivor" and did watch the SHOW when she was on it, as my daughter had sent me an email that she was to be on the SHOW. You have to go to her website and check her out, but here is just a little information about her, Retired after working as a registered nurse for 41 years, Gillian Larson has never satisfied her appetite for adventure and travel despite her wide array of experiences throughout her 61 years. She has traveled through 46 countries and all but a few U.S. states, much of it backpacking. This adventurous "granny" can climb and rappel 4,000 foot mountains and swim with the Great Whites. Not only is she versatile, but she is competitive by nature and felt that she was a perfect fit for the game of SURVIVOR, having applied 15 times, always believing she would one day be selected, and guess what she was. Perhaps if you watch the show you can remember seeing her Gillian Larson - Survivor: Gabon - Earth's Last Eden Married 37 years to her husband, Ron, Gillian has three married daughters and four grandchildren. Born and raised in Johannesburg, South Africa, she was awarded several academic and athletic honors. Gillian met her husband in Germany and moved to the United States. The couple has relocated 18 times and currently resides in Temecula, Calif. since 2001. Her proudest achievement is her awesome family. When she isn't scuba diving or hiking through the mountains, Gillian enjoys travel, writing, photography, gardening, spending time with her family and her eclectic group of friends who range from 2 to 92. So you can see what an amazing woman she is. Well she is also she is working on a fantastic project that is going to take place in Temecula, CA early next year, it is called REALITY RALLY and the website for the event is www.realityrally.com, they need lots of people for this event including volunteers and it sounds like it will be a blast. I already said I would volunteer and I will get the word out to all my members as well from my networks as she is going to be bring lots of reality stars to the event.![]() I thought I was SHOWING UP everywhere but when I heard some of the things she is doing I thought WOW I have met my match. She also loves to speak for groups about her adventure, I know that I am going to book her in to speak for my Murrieta For You/NAFE network and my South Orange County For You Network next year as I know that she will have an amazing story to share. Check out her website at www.gillianlarson.com and you will see for yourself. I can totally understand why she would not give up, as she has one dynamic personality and you love her the moment you meet her. It reminded me when a friend of mine and I did a video to submit to the Amazing Race, we did not get in but it was fun to do, perhaps had we been as persistent as her we might of made it. I think the exciting things we all need to do is to take chances and to step out of the box and be daring and bold and do things that perhaps might even be scary for us. Gillian since being on the show has made so many wonderful friends of Reality Show people , and as I said the event she is doing in Temecula next year will have lots of those people SHOWING UP. So I suggest you check out the website www.realityrally.com and see what its about, put a team together or just sign up to volunteer she has lots of different volunteer jobs as they will need many for the event. She is also looking for sponsors, door prizes and more but it is all spelled out on the website. Her phone is 781-962-7234 in the event you want to learn more about how you can be a part of this amazing day. Wow our own AMAZING RACE in Temecula, CA sounds pretty exciting to me. I am so thrilled our paths crossed again, as time really does not matter, as the Universe somehow brings us all back together somewhere as long as we keep SHOWING UP. Remember SHOWING UP is like a treasure map, you never know what treasure you will find, and I sure hit the jackpot by agreeing to speak and SHOW UP at the DSWA Temecula meeting. as in addition to Jillian, I got to hang out with great entrepreneurs like Yarka Parus, Paula Horning, Elizabeth Pratt, LaVonne Edwards, Kelley Lara, Dena Lansford and the dynamic President of the group Bonnie Clark, also Donna Baker-Olson one of my NAFE/For You members showed up also to hear me speak. She is working with June Davidson and I to put together our Sept 9, 2011 Alaska Trip and the Feb 29, 2012 14 day Hawaii trip and anyone can join us. Just email Donna at donna.escapetotravel@gmail.com or email me rmotter@aol.com, and I will send you the flyer or flyers for both events. What amazing women, the women of DSWA are they touch lives everyday and make a difference. DSWA will start their luncheon meetings again in January on the third Tuesday at 11:30 am at TGIF in Temecula. Great group, if you are in Direct Sales Marketing, I suggest you SHOW UP at their meetings. Bonnie Clark who runs the group is awesome.. So what was your SHOW UP story this week? I always love hearing them so email them to me at rmotter@aol.com

I myself have not been much of a doctor person over the years. Recently I had to give in and SHOW UP at my wonderful doctors office as I was having some knee pain. While I was there she asked me if I had any other problems and so I thought that I would share with her that I had been having a little breast pain on my left Breast for awhile.
