Did You Know That Writing a Book is Another Great Marketing Strategy?Category: Creative Entrepreneur Strategies Published: Friday, June 12, 2009 If you're like most business owners you're always looking for new ways to get your name and your company's name out to the public. Have you ever though of writing a book? Everyone has a book in them says "June Davidson the President of American Seminar Leaders in Pasadena Ca". In fact, recently I was talking to June who has authored and co-authored numerous books and who is working together with me as a coauthor on our book "The Millionaire Blueprint for Women", who said "there is only one difference between a writer and a non-writer." The writer says she or he is going to write a book and then sits down and writes it, and the non-writer says someday I want to write a book, but somehow, that someday never comes around." Which person are you? Many of us are under the misconception that we must have all the right tools to write. This is not the case as another author I know Jeraldine Saunders who wrote "The Love Boat" which was also turned into a movie and a television series had never been a writer, and had no training in that area. She did not have a definitive schedule to sit down and write for "X" number of hours each day, she was caring for her ailing parents, and was unable to stick to a schedule. The key. said both by June and Jeraldine, is to "write about something you know about." Jeraldine was inspired to write the "The Love Boat" because she was the world's first woman cruise director. During this experience, she gained incredible knowledge about what takes place on a cruise ship, and she took notes on what she saw. All this gave her the material to write the book. She also wrote a book later on called "Hypoglycemia", which has sold over two million copies. She had great knowledge of the illness because her daughter, who is now deceased, had it, and so she could write the story based on what she was facing in the hopes that it helped others who were going through the same thing. But again she shared the knowledge she knew... June Davidson has written many books and e-books on seminars and coaching as she is a master trainer and over the years she has trained some of the top speakers, seminar leader and coaches in the country. When she conducts her classes monthly in Pasadena , CA , whose graduates receive certification as a speaker and/or seminar leaders; she has them start an e book based on their experience and expertise. She is always getting communications from her graduates about when you write about what you know how easy it really is. Many never dreamed they even had a book in them let alone being able to complete the e book in a very short time. According to Jeraldine and June, writing a book can suddenly make your name and what you do know be known to millions and millions of people, opening many doors for you, They are truly correct as a Marketing /PR Consultant for years, I see this happening all the time, as writing your book is truly a fantastic marketing tool. Also if you are a speaker it's a great way to immediately have a back of the room product to sell at your speaking engagements. Jeraldine gave me a few tips on writers; block. She said that if a writer doesn't know where to begin, just remember that you don't have to begin at the beginning. Jot down whatever thoughts come into your head and save them. Later, you can fit them in wherever they work; this was the technique she used. June on the other hand is great for getting her graduates to do an outline on what they want each chapter to be and then sharing their stories and fitting them into the chapters. . As June says "stories sell and especially when they come from ones own experience and their heart." Both Jeraldine and June feel that the power of the written word can open the door to TV perhaps even to Oprah's book club, and to getting interviewed on Radio. Also many magazines and newspapers have book sections and some have book editors where they do a review on new books. So you never know where as an author your journey will take you. So what is your story? How long have you been telling people you were going to write a book? Its simple, start with an e-book as they are easier. Once you do one or two of them you will have no problem doing a regular book. Check on the e-books page at the http://www.asla.com website and click on E books this will give you a great example of the variety of e books now being written. E books are books that people buy on line and then download so you don't have all that printing expense, but yet you can make money. So are you the writer that sits down and writes the book or the one that keeps telling everyone they are going to write one? Its time to sit down now and do it, especially with the economy being what it is. We all need to try and put together multiple streams of incomes. That's why also adding speaking and seminars to your business is another great tool and if you don't know how to do that contact ASLA as they are experts in helping people become top speakers and seminar leaders and they even have a great speakers bureau that brings in numerous global opportunities for their members. Jeraldine has published at least fifteen books and still does not use a computer, and has spoken all over the world on her books, and June also has written probably over ten books and also has done many keynote speaking engagements across the country as well. ASLA also does teleclasses on how to write a book and get it published, so check out their website at http://www.asla.com and get on their mailing list so you learn about all the great things they do for their students and graduates. Also writing articles is also a great way to get published and there are some great on line places that take articles so you can start there. Here are the websites for some that I have found: http://www.ezinearticles.com, http://www.articlealley.com, http://www.searchwarp.com http://www.articlegeek.com http://www.bukisa.com, http://publish.associatedcontent.com/cms_edit_no_signup.shtml I have published a few of my articles on a few of those sites. Also once you get the book published than you want to start speaking as that is also a great way to get more books published and ASLA is a great place to get the training and to become a certified Seminar Leader. June certified me as a speaker and seminar leader ten years ago and it changed my life. I joined June 4 months ago in partnering my company Contacts Unlimited with ASLA to set up the Speakers Bureau and since we started it 5 months ago we have sent out over 500 call for speaker proposals to our members. Our ASLA graduates get three months free after taking the training and then pay only $19.97 per month thereafter and we also opened it up to non graduates and that cost is only $39.97 per month. So if you have a book and need to be out there speaking then you need our Speakers Bureau. Just today I sent out ten opportunities and one of them was for a HAWAII conference. I think I will be sending in my proposal on that one as Hawaii is my home and it would be great to speak at a conference there. Our speaker opportunities are global and they are for great conferences, events etc., so if this is something you might have an interest in contact me so I can get you signed up at 888-244-4420, check out the ASLA website at http://www.asla.com , you can also click on e-books there and see what the students have written and order them, as well as check out the speakers bureau. Much success to you as you begins your journey of publishing your book, your e-book., articles and its important that you also embark on getting out there to speak and do seminars and Ms. June Davidson is the master to show you how easy it is to do it. We have classes starting in May so check it out on our website.
