SHOWING UP WITH INTENT OF WHAT YOU WANT TO ACCOMPLISH WORKS

I always say that SHOWING UP is like a treasure map but it's also important to know what it is you want and need when you SHOW UP somewhere. 

 

Recently June Davidson, Fannie Green and I attended a big conference that also had celebrities that was held in Los Angeles.  As I left in the morning I told my friend Fannie Green "Fannie our purpose today in SHOWING UP is to support our friend Robert HOLLYWOOD who was one of the MC's for the day, but also to meet people, check out the vendors and let them know about the SUCCESS UP, NAFE 2011 Western Regional Conference that I am planning May 20th and 21st.".

 

So our goal was to gather cards to send them info about having a vendor booth, as well as meeting women that might want to be a part of my Murrieta and South Orange County For You/ NAFE networks that I run every month and also letting people know about the Goddess Festival June 26th in Laguna Beach www.festivalofgoddesses.com that my friend  and member Yamini  is doing and the The Women's Information Network Summer event that my friend Paula Fellingham is doing in Oceanside in July, www.thewinonline.com  (click on events and then click on Summer event)  that June and I will be speaking at, as well as to find a celebrity to be a part of my 2011 conference that June Davidson and I and others are planning, and then off we went. On the way we picked up my friend and business associate June Davidson the President of ASLA, (www.asla.com)  and filled her in on our intent as well..

 

Because we had the intention in mind, we met some great people, ran into people we already knew,  and I met a few that said, they loved my blog and asked me who put it together for me. I was so pleased they asked  me that, as then I got  to share that Infinity Arts is the greatest company in setting up a blog or a website, and that everyone should have their own blog and that they are the ones to call www.infinityarts.com, and how having my own blog has worked so great for me. I shared that they also do a free class online all the time on why having your own blog is important, so they should check out their website for their next free class dates.

 

I met a woman that has gorgeous sequin gowns that were so beautiful and just a little over  $100.00, her company is called Royal-T and her name is Barbara Lee and her email barbilee@msn.com and she loves doing Fashions Shows that benefit a charity. She lives in the Desert area but does shows all over, she also had lots of bling bling, I ended up buying from her a beautiful Queen Diva necklace as I am the Queen Diva and June bought a few pins all which were very inexpensive. She is the one I am contacting for my next Emmy's and Oscar gown, as they are magnificent and affordable. . All the stuff she had women love, and so put her in touch with Yamini for her goddess event, which she loved hearing about, and called Yamini from the event and told her about Barbara and the gowns and she was thrilled. Then also thought how fun it would be at my Friday night conference reception to have a mini fashion show as women love glitz and bling and she said she would love to do it as well as have a booth at my event in 2011. Barbara suggested our women could be the models and women love to get all dressed up so that was exciting,.. 

 

Met lots of prospects for both my Murrieta  and South Orange County For You/NAFE networks,. Ran into  Lali Kakar who is from New York and who has Success Catalysts www.successcatalysts.com and who had a booth at the last NAFE conference we did three years ago at the Ritz Carlton Hotel in  Laguna, and who wants to have a vendor booth at my next one in 2011. He said the last conference was so great and he would not miss it this next year so to put him down for one of my vendor booths. 

 

We also met one of the last fantastic original singers of the Platters who my friend Hollywood introduced us to and asked him to sing  some numbers for us which were great and got the place jumping, and of course got June, Fannie and I up dancing which encouraged others and all of a sudden there was excitement and magic in the air. I told Hollywood to see if could get him to donate his time to join Hollywood for our Sat night chocolate extravaganza event at the conference as having him as one of the entertainers would be fantastic along with a few others I have already selected, so Hollywood said he would ask him, so that is exciting.

 

Robert "Hollywood:did all our music for the last NAFE conference we did in CA three years ago,  and has again agreed to take care of all the Music again next year so I was so thrilled that already that people wanted booths, my music was being taken care of, I already have some great entertainers a miniature glitzy fashion show and people saying they want to SHOW UP, and we are a year out from the event.

 

Also my friend Deb from Half City Productions who did the photos at the last NAFE conference three years ago has again agreed to do the photo booth for those needing business photos at a small cost for those needing the photos. She will also take photos at the event and is even giving away to some lucky winner the opportunity of a free video to tape a short commercial for their business.  So its amazing what having intent of what you want to accomplish can do for you. 

 

Got to meet lots of stars at event including, Peter Marshall, Lee Merriweather, Shirley Jones, Debbie Reynolds, Eric Roberts and so many others, as there were tons of celebrities who had their books and photos that they were signing for sale. 

 

They also had many of the celebrities talk. When I heard Terry Moore speak I knew she was the one I wanted to come to my conference as my celebrity speaker, she speaks from her heart and is such a role model for women.  She is still very beautiful  and as you might remember was the wife of billionaire Howard Hughes.

 

It was great to hear her talk about what he really was like, and about the three books she has written, and the fact she now wants to step out and start speaking. June Davidson my friend and business partner asked her who was the love of her life, as she has had several marriages and she said "Howard Hughes". 

 

Terry Moore has played with so many top stars over the years, she today is 81 years old, looks 50 and is so dynamic and beautiful.  Her latest book  is called "How Do You Stay So Young." Terry told us that is a question she said everyone always asks her. She said "Its about having your own style. Walking in a room with your own style, lets people know you are there, also doing some sort of exercise , eating the right food and having faith". She herself does a bootcamp on the beach three days a week, does yoga, eats right and has a strong faith.

 

She said "if you think about Grace Kelly, Audrey Hepburn and Jackie Kennedy, they all had a style that no matter were  they went people knew they were there".  In her book which I bought, she shares 9 secrets for staying young, and I cannot wait to read it as I want to look like her when I am in my 80's. 

 

Terry Moore is so real and someone that you want to be your best friend.I mentioned to her that Fannie Green and I always see her at the Oscars we attend each year, as she always comes with Jane Russell and Cyd Charisse, and she said "that they always go together and have a great time and that they are long time friends". What I loved about her is that she was so real and spoke from her heart. 

 

We are also excited that Betty Spence the President of NAFE who is a terrific speaker, author and a great person  will also be one of our Keynote speakers and also Paula Fellingham the CEO of www.thewinonline.com  and the author of Believe It! Become It! whose book was endorsed by Colin Powell  and who has spoken Internationally and who Ambassador Mohktar Lamani, from the United Nations said "Paula Fellingham has the wonderful ability of empowering people to improve their lives and their relationships". Paula has spoken at the United Nations, consulted for the World Congress on Families was a delegate in Paris and at NATO Headquarters for the World Movement of Mothers, author of four books, newspaper journalist, former radio talk show host, and now CEO of TheWinonline.com and a great friend of June Davidson and mine.  We have a few other great keynotes in mind so are awaiting their responses, all of these ladies are acclaimed speakers that get big bucks to speak but whom are donating their time to our event...We also will have Success Leader tables with some other top presenters and topics as part of the days events.

 

So as you know I always say the POWER is in the ASKING and so I ASKED Terry Moore as I had previously asked Betty and Paula, if she would donate her time to be my celebrity speaker at my 2011 Conference and Terry said YES she would be honored to be there. June Davidson, Fannie Green and I were thrilled as our attendee's will love her, love her story and see what a roll model she is for women. So already the magic is happening of those that are coming forth to make this a fantastic event.

 

So everything I said in my intentions that I would accomplish that day I was able to do. I came home with lots of cards, some prospects for vendor booths, prospects for my women's NAFE groups, and a celebrity speaker to go with the other two dynamic keynote speakers I had already gotten and we also all three had a fun day, and we supported our  friend HOLLYWOOD who has always been there for us,  and we had a great free lunch with champagne, which as you know June loves as she is the Champagne Diva, since we were VIP guests of the event. 

 

So when you are SHOWING UP at an event do you go with an intention of what it is you need and want? You must set purpose for things you do,  as there are not tons of hours that you can be everywhere. So you must carefully look at where you are going,  and why and what you want to accomplish.  I do this all the time and it totally works. It is also important as to look at where you are going and who will be there, and what is it you can also do for them, as remember its not always about us. 

 

While we were at this event June Davidson and I also were able to help a few vendors NICHE tighter what it is they were doing and make sure their message of what they do is clear. 

 

One gentleman we helped does fantastic things for the women of Africa but yet it was not spelled out anywhere in his signage or information he was handing out. So we asked him some questions and helped him to more clearly see the whole picture and realize he was not getting the message out. He said with tears in his eyes that ," he knew God brought us to him that day as he was about to give up doing what he was doing. So all of a sudden he had renewed hope that he was on the right path". 

 

June Davidson and I get to do this a lot as we seem to have a gift in seeing the whole picture and helping people niche in tighter to their mission and purpose. It's a gift that we both have and we love helping others so its always a joy to us when we can reach out and touch a life as helping others is a great thing. We get to do this all the time as coaches to individuals across the country.

 

So when was the last time you reached out and touched a life?  It is a wonderful thing to do and one little jester can change that persons life.

For our NAFE Western SUCCESS UP conference, we are planning a Friday night fun reception with the glitzy fashion show, entertainment, finger foods and a cash bar, Sat we will start at 7:30 am for chec in, and Continental breakfast and networking . At 9am we will officially kick off with dynamic keynote speakers, and we will have a great lunch entertainment, silent auction, door prizes, and afternoon SUCCESS UP team leader tables with a variety of topics for you to select from that will help you grow personally and professionally, followed by a closing speaker and close by 5pm. At 6:30 pm we will gather again for our Chocolate Extravaganza fun evening with dancing, finger foods, chocolate, cash bar, entertainment and networking.

 

I still  have more intentions as well that I would like to accomplish,  as I am putting them out there as I am looking for sponsors to underwrite our Friday night reception, Sat morning continental breakfast, the Sat luncheon and the Sat night Chocolate Extravaganza. As well as to donate the bags we give away to attendees, goody items to go into the bags, and in kind donations for the silent auction. 

 

All our sponsors will get their logo on the website we will be creating. (we are also looking for an in kind sponsor to donate their time to create a few page website  for  us for the event) , we will also be listing the sponsors names in all our PR and in the program book for the day, and will have their information placed in all the goody bags as well. ( we also are looking for a graphic person to donate as an inkind donation their time to create the flyer and the program book and a inkind sponsor to print them)

 

The more sponsors we can find that will help us, will allow us to keep our costs low so we can reduce the ticket costs so that more women will be able to afford to come, especially in these tight economic times, and also we will be able to make money for the nonprofit women's causes we are helping from the profits of this event. One is a group headed by Delores Burgess a gifted entertainer and two time breast cancer survivor that helps African American women and breast cancer, also the International Education foundation which will allows us to help more women to learn and grown and take back their own POWER and  Remember helping others is a great thing, so if you can help us so we can touch lots of lives we will be most grateful.


So I am putting out my additional intentions of my needs, which I know that there will be those that will step to the plate to help, so I am confident these intentions will be heard and met.

 

So in SHOWING UP as I said in the beginning always have an intention as it does work..Please always remember I love to hear your SHOWUP stories...

I am going to focus on thanking my friend Sharon McCoy for introducing us rather than crying over missing that terrific brainstorming weekend with some of my favorites I have met through you. Best to Sue, Cindy, Aedice & June and to those I so miuch want to meet. See you tomorrow at SJC. I reminded Yamine that it was the last Tues of the month tomorrow and time to SHOW YP at Sarducci's.
